Gender Equality and Disability Inclusion

In contributing to SDG 5, MCT seeks to address and eliminate the many root causes of discrimination that still curtail women’s rights and all forms of violence and harmful practices such as child, early, and forced marriage, teenage pregnancy, and female genital mutilation by engaging men and boys. MCT is working to ensure gender equality and social inclusion are embedded throughout the program (applying a gender lens to disability-inclusive development work). In particular, we are working to improve the consortium’s understanding of how issues around gender and disability intersect to limit the participation of women/girls and People with Disabilities (PWDs) in the public and private spheres.
